I am a visual artist and arts educator based on my professional practice as a geologist (MEarthSci (Oxon), MSci, FGS). I specialise in fine art painting, inspired by relationships with landscape, deep time geology and lost and ghostly space.

I am exploring the cognitive nature of observation, both in geology (in the practice of field sketching) and in fine art observation. I am convinced of the link between the two, and that we can use fine art techniques to improve the quality, brevity and insight of our field observations as geologists.

I am an experienced science educator and drawing teacher, in particular around interdisciplinary art-science interaction as well as girls and women in sciences. I run the nonprofit organisation Draw Out Project, teaching 'art to scientists and science to artists'. As part of this I run fine art workshops with scientific organisations and natural history museums across the UK.
